Get involved in the #MY19 Challenge

What is the #MY19 challenge all about?

#MY19 is a new social media challenge in support of the monumental Martin’s Mountain effort to raise awareness and understanding of spinal cord injury and vital funds for SIA.

Anyone can get involved, it simply requires popping outside your front door for just 19 minutes.

What do I need to do?

It’s easy to take part in the #MY19 Challenge and everybody can do it. All you have to do is:

  1. PARTICIPATE:Go outside for 19 minutes to enjoy some fresh air or exercise. How you choose to spend your time outside is up to you.
  1. SHARE: Upload a photo or video of yourself during your challenge to social media using the ‘#MY19’ hashtag.
  1. NOMINATE & DONATE: Nominate a friend to do their own #MY19 Challenge and donate to Martin’s Mountain via the JustGiving page.

What is Martin’s Mountain?

Martin Hibbert was paralysed during the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing and will be climbing 19,000ft up Mt Kilimanjaro in June to raise £1million for SIA to help other people affected by spinal cord injury.

Martin will be making the climb using a specially adapted Mountain Trike all terrain wheelchair to traverse the rocky terrain.

Whilst we can’t all climb a 19,000ft mountain in Tanzania, by getting outside for just 19 minutes, you can show your support for Martin by helping to raise as much money as possible for SIA. Your donation will help thousands of people in the UK living with spinal cord injury to tackle their everyday mountains and rebuild their lives after injury.

Martin Hibbert said of the challenge:

It’ll be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But climbing Kilimanjaro is only part of the story. My true ambition is to enable every spinal cord injured person to receive the specialist care and support they need to live the life they choose and reach their full potential. I want to start a movement that will create a better and fairer society for disabled people
