Covid update

Now that we’re well into the Autumn, approaching winter, this is the time of year for respiratory conditions to rise. This can have more of an impact for those with a SCI.

We’re living with Covid, and although the current variants appear to have much milder symptoms, it cannot be ignored completely.

It is very important to maintain good immunity by having your booster vaccinations. It is also the time of year for the annual flu vaccination. Both will give you better protection against any respiratory complications as a result of Covid or flu.

Both vaccinations are safe but there can be an extremely rare chance of an adverse effect with the Covid vaccine. There is a way to report any adverse reactions you may have from the Covid vaccine.

There is a suggestion that the Astra Zeneca vaccine may carry a very small risk of developing Transverse Myelitis, and potentially a flare up for those who already have it. You could request either the Pfizer/Biontech or Moderna vaccine as an alternative.

The impact of catching Covid is potentially more impactful by not having the vaccine.
