Jingling all the way to you!
Winter is coming and your brand new, seasonal issue of Forward magazine will soon be sleigh-riding your way. Listen out for the bells!
We’re grateful for your feedback on our new look and hope you’ll find this winter issue the best read yet…
We reveal findings from the What Matters survey where we asked members of the SCI community to share their main concerns. It’s a troubling picture, shining a light into areas which have been hidden too long. You can read about our plans to address your concerns as we move forward.
The ‘It’s Not Just Physical’ report we asked our members to get involved with has taken a snapshot of the mental health of SCI people, their families and carers, revealing the heart-breaking realities for so many of you. Our own support network manager Gary Dawson’s candid account makes for an uncomfortable but necessary read which too many of you will relate to. Learn about how we are working to tackle this.
What else? We’ve some warming stories – read about how her father’s spinal cord injury propelled Caitlin Jones towards a career in neuroscience and to challenge public perceptions of ‘hidden’ disability. Plus, Deb and Andy’s story which features a hospital wedding is testament to the power and resilience of love.
Do you do New Year’s resolutions? We asked friends in the SCI community for theirs – some involve Keira Knightley!
And just like an advent calendar, there’s always another door to open! Read Forward’s winter issue for:
- festive feasts and tipples from the 2SCI Chefs (look out for the spaniel!)
- sex and relationships with SCI men – details of a new seminar series
- tips on keeping well in winter
- getting involved in the transformative power of yoga and breathwork
- much more besides…
Thank you as always for your contributions and stories. Wishing you and yours a very happy festive season!
