Calvert Trust Exmoor - Experience the Great Outdoors
Finding somewhere accessible to go on holiday that will keep everyone entertained can be a real challenge. We all want a family holiday that is fun, hassle-free and filled with shared memories.
CALVERT TRUST – www.calvert-trust.org.uk
Calvert Trust Exmoor is a unique, award-winning activity centre where SCI people and those living with other disabilities can enjoy exciting, challenging and fun outdoor activity holidays together with their families and friends. Specialist equipment and accessible facilities enable the whole family to enjoy adventure activities together, regardless of disability, non-disability or age. At Calvert Trust Exmoor, the only five-star activity accommodation in England, it’s what you CAN do that counts.
Calvert Trust Exmoor’s family adventure breaks are a great opportunity to meet new people and share experiences in a safe and supportive environment. They try to match families and guests of similar ability or needs, to make activity groups of up to ten people. A multi-qualified Activities Instructor is allocated to your group for the duration of your stay – and will lead you through a range of adventure sports like climbing, archery, horse riding and canoeing – so that they can really get to know you and your family’s needs, and help you all make the most of your stay. The sense of achievement can provide a huge boost of confidence and self-esteem to people with disabilities and has a positive effect on their lives beyond their stay.
Set in 40 acres of beautiful countryside on the edge of Exmoor National Park, and only 15minutes from the North Devon coast, Calvert Trust Exmoor’s idyllic location offers you the best of both worlds. With exclusive access to Wistlandpound Reservoir for water sports, all activities and everything else you need is together on one fully accessible site, giving you more me to enjoy yourselves. The converted Victorian farm buildings are centred around a peaceful courtyard garden and enjoy spectacular views across the lake, woods and moorland. Whether you are
cycling around the reservoir or simply taking some me out in the Acland Room, the views will have you captivated. The accommodation is National Accessible Scheme-accredited, and consists of an ensuite single, twin and triple bedrooms.
The centre can also supply hoists, shower chairs, electric beds, trembler pads and other loan equipment to make your stay more comfortable, whatever your needs. Activity breaks at Calvert Trust Exmoor are inclusive in every sense of the word. Your holiday price includes a full programme of activities, five-star accommodation, all meals, evening entertainment and use of all onsite facilities including a swimming pool.
The fully accessible centre is registered with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, and the Trust’s highly experienced instructors are qualified by national governing bodies and specially trained to work with disabled people.
Speaking about the positive impact a visit can have, Calvert Trust Exmoor CEO, Mike Gray, said: “Whatever your age or ability, a visit to Calvert Trust Exmoor can provide a life-changing experience; building confidence, developing skills, meeting like-minded people and simply having fun. Many guests are surprised by how much they can do here.”
Visitor feedback “Just got back from my third trip to Calvert Trust Exmoor and it really is an amazing activity centre. Lots of centres claim to be fully inclusive, but this one most definitely is.” Steve Fifield, returning guest.
