Travel with confidence

The aim of our Travel with confidence project is to create the ultimate resource for accessible travel information.

Thanks to a successful funding bid with the Motability Foundation, we’re excited to announce the launch of our Travel with confidence project, a new initiative aimed at addressing the challenges faced by people living with spinal cord injuries (SCI) when accessing public spaces and transport facilities.  Our goal is to empower the SCI community by providing the knowledge and skills to enhance access, independence, and confidence in all their journeys, whether near or far.

We’re currently in the discovery phase of the project and want to actively engage with the spinal cord injury (SCI) community and related organisations to ensure that the content is tailored to the needs and preferences of those living with spinal cord injury. Our goal is to make travel easier and boost confidence by providing the resources and support that travellers with spinal cord injury need to enjoy their journeys fully.

This could encompass a wide range of needs, from accessing mobility aids to navigating public transport, taxis, parking and airports. We are open to all suggestions to ensure comprehensive coverage. The content format may include a mix of videos, fact sheets, animations, and audio clips, catering to diverse preferences and requirements.

Ways you can get involved

  • Complete and/or share our survey

To find out more about what people want we have created three surveys.  Just click on the link that applies to you.

OUR SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED (Wednesday 31 July)

Thank you to everyone who took the survey, shared your own experiences and gave us great insight to the challenges people with spinal cord injury face when travelling. We look forward to sharing the results of the survey in due course.

  • Take part in a focus group

NO UPCOMING EVENTS

We are also launching focus groups as part of the Travel with confidence project and are looking for individuals with spinal cord injuries and those supporting someone with a spinal cord injury to participate. Your insights and feedback are invaluable to us as we seek to understand travel experiences across various modes of transportation as well as personal transportation.

The aim of these focus groups is to:

  • Gather detailed insights and feedback on travel experiences.
  • Identify pain points related to accessing information and using different transport services.
  • Explore the travel booking process to understand how to make it easier.
  • Determine the most pressing issues in travel

By participating, you will directly influence the direction of our Travel with confidence project, ensuring that your voice is heard and valued. Your feedback will be instrumental in shaping our efforts to improve travel experiences for everyone.

  • Online sessions and in-person sessions for healthcare professionals

NO UPCOMING EVENTS
